French lessons
I have been teaching French since 2016 and hold a degree in Portuguese and French Language and Literature, as well as a master’s degree in Language, Literature and Culture. I have taught at different institutions, including Alliance Française de São Paulo, and have focused exclusively on online teaching since 2020.
My lessons work on all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We generally place greater emphasis on oral communication and comprehension, while written assignments are completed between lessons and receive personalized feedback from me. The lessons are adapted to your level, goals, and availability. We can work with the coursebook as a base, while also incorporating authentic materials such as press articles, literary texts, films, and other resources depending on your interests and needs.
Over the past decade, I have helped many students reach their French-learning goals, from preparing for exams and moving abroad to becoming more confident in everyday communication.
So whether you are learning French for work, studies, immigration, travel, or simply for the pleasure of learning a language, my goal is to help you become a confident and independent French speaker, meaning someone who can use French naturally in everyday life.
Exam preparation
Preparing for a French proficiency exam is not quite the same as learning French. You need to know what will be expected of you, understand how each section works, and learn how to make the most of the time and skills you have on test day.
I offer personalized preparation for the TCF Canada, DELF, DALF, and other French proficiency exams. We identify the areas that need the most attention, work through exam-style tasks, and develop strategies for each component of the test. You will also receive detailed feedback on your written and oral productions, so you know exactly what to improve between lessons.
With this approach, I have successfully prepared many students for their exams, helping them achieve excellent results and reach the scores they were aiming for.
The goal is not simply to practice more, but to know how to approach the exam with confidence and make your French work for you when it matters most.
Literature and cultural talks
Discovering literature is an opportunity to explore new ideas, encounter different perspectives, and see the world differently. Through stories, characters, and imagined worlds, literature invites us to reflect on the human experience and better understand the societies in which we live.
I offer personalized reading programmes in French-language literature, tailored to your interests, reading experience, and goals. Whether you would like to discover literary classics, explore a particular author or movement, or develop a more regular reading practice, I can help you find your way through Francophone literature. I also offer guided reading sessions to explore selected works, discuss their themes, and discover their historical and cultural contexts.
In addition, I develop lectures and talks on literary and cultural subjects, from individual authors and literary movements to broader questions explored through literature. These can be adapted to different audiences and settings, including cultural organizations, libraries, educational institutions, and reading groups. Topics may include the relationship between literature and society, the role of fashion and aesthetics in literary works, and the ways cultural expressions reflect changing ideas about identity, belonging, and resistance.
My interests lie at the intersection of French-language literature, philosophy, and cultural history. I am particularly drawn to the ways literature reflects and challenges the societies in which it emerges, as well as its explorations of identity, memory, desire, and consciousness. I am also interested in the relationship between aesthetics and self-expression, including how fashion and clothing can reveal social conventions and become forms of resistance. These interests extend to science fiction and the intersections between technology and the human experience, where imagined futures invite us to reconsider our relationship with the world and what it means to be human.
